Treat yourself to stunning mountain views, leaping rivers, lush forests, and lakes so blue they’ll take your breath away along the Mountain Loop Highway – one of the prettiest drives in Washington. As the 55-mile loop through Arlington, Darrington, and Granite Falls meanders into the heart of the Cascades through the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and along the Stillaguamish and Sauk Rivers, the tranquil isolation will remind you why this is one of Washington’s best-kept secrets.
Our suggested route: From Everett, take Interstate-5 North and take the Arlington exit (#208). Follow State Route 530 through Arlington and Darrington. Once in Darrington, visit the Darrington Ranger Station, and then follow Seeman Road and the signs for the Mountain Loop Highway. The drive meanders through the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, along the Stillaguamish and Sauk Rivers, and eventually connects with Highway 92, taking you west to the cities of Verlot, Granite Falls, and Lake Stevens. Head north again on Highway 9 to Arlington to complete the loop.
